Over 2300 people, including representatives of the Parliament, Government officials and journalists have seen so far "Lilya 4-ever" - an acclaimed feature film about a sixteen year old girl who becomes a victim of human trafficking - shown between January 30th and February 12th at Patria Cinema in Chisinau.
"During the first four days of the presentation, the number of people willing to see the movie exceeded the number of tickets available at the Patria box offices," - Marielle Sander-Lindstrom, Chief of IOM Mission to Republic of Moldova announced today.
According to the Cinema employees, IOM and the Center La Strada volunteers, the viewers of "Lilya 4-ever" are especially young people aged between 16 and 24.
"We are very pleased that the message of this movie appears to be resonating with the young people of Moldova", - mentioned Allan Freedman, Deputy Chief of IOM Mission to RM.
The people interviewed by the Center La Strada volunteers at the cinema exits said that they found the realities presented in the film as shocking and, unfortunately, very close to the situation in the Republic of Moldova, which faces a serious problem of human trafficking.
Lilya 4-ever" will be shown for one week in Balti beginning February 13th and in Ungheni for a week run beginning February 20th. Additionally the movie will be taken to 100 schools and boarding schools all over Moldova. The tickets are free of charge and available at the Patria box offices.
"Lilya 4-ever" is a feature film presented by the Mission of International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Moldova, Center La Strada, U.S. State Department, National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings, and in close partnership with Voxtel and SunTV, in order to prevent human trafficking.
