24 April 2012, Chişinău – the modernization and re-launching of the www.migratie.md website allows citizens of the Republic of Moldova who have decided to go abroad, to easily access extensive and comprehensive information about the possibilities and opportunities to migrate to over 20 countries around the world. Furthermore, foreign citizens who would like to visit or settle in our country can find information about legal stay requirements, job and business opportunities on the same site.
This information portal was created in 2004 as a reaction to the growing phenomenon of migration of Moldovan citizens abroad. The portal was updated and modernized in 2012 by the International Organization for Migration, Mission to Moldova within the “Supporting the implementation of the migration and development component of the EU-Moldova Mobility Partnership” project, implemented by the International Organization for Migration and funded by the European Union with a total amount of 1,999,734.77 EUR (30,822,578.58 MDL). Migrating abroad is never easy, considering the significant financial costs, change in lifestyle and leaving the loved ones behind. For the journey to be successful and to avoid wasting money, potential migrants should know more about the country they intend to move to and the laws pertaining to foreigners in that country. The www.migratie.md website, updated to a new format, is meant to provide concrete facts and comprehensive information to potential migrants so that their decision to leave is a well-informed one legally, socially and economically. IOM believes that any citizen of the Republic of Moldova, choosing to go abroad, should have the most up-to-date information regarding legal migration. This information should be exact and accurate and should inform citizens about legal employment possibilities, study abroad programs, aspects of social protection, pension schemes, healthcare system, children’s education, visas and other relevant documents. In addition, potential migrants need to be aware of the risks and perils of illegal migration, such as trafficking in human beings. read more... |
