IOM’S PASSPORT EXAMINATION PROCEDURE MANUALS DISTRIBUTED TO THE NATIONAL BORDER GUARD SERVICE

On 25th of February 2011 over one hundred fifty of IOM’s Passport Examination Procedure Manuals (the Manual) were provided to the Border Guard Service of the Republic of Moldova for distribution to the main border crossing points of Moldova with the neighbouring Romania and Ukraine. The manuals have been delivered to the beneficiaries after the official presentation of the Manual at the National Border Guard College in Ungheni. The distribution was supported by the EU-funded project “Technical cooperation and capacity building for the governments of Ukraine and Moldova for the implementation of readmission agreements with the European Union” (GUMIRA), and implemented by the International Organization for Migration mission to Moldova (IOM).read more...

 
EU PROJECT SUPPORTS OPENING OF THE ONE STOP-SHOP IN THE BUREAU OF MIGRATION AND ASYLUM

On 25th of February 2011, a combined facility for documenting foreigners - One Stop Shop opened its doors at the Bureau of Migration and Asylum. The new facility is designed to facilitate the documenting of foreigners coming to Moldova for work, studies, family reunification etc. Creation of the One Stop Shop according to the established European standards was possible due to the support provided in the framework of the EU-funded project “Technical cooperation and capacity building for the Governments of Ukraine and Moldova for the implementation of readmission agreements with the European Union” (GUMIRA). The project which is implemented by the International Organization for Migration mission to Moldova (IOM) has provided furniture for the premises, five working stations, the access control system, a multifunction biometric data capture device and other necessary equipment with the total value of 22,000 Euros. read more... 

 
Promoting definitive return of Moldovan overseas graduates

In order to mitigate the adverse effects of brain drain among young people, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with the National Employment Agency (NEA), Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) and the Ministry of Education (MEd), announces the launch of the pilot program on promoting and facilitation of the temporary and permanent return and professional reintegration of 30 Moldovan overseas graduates for experience sharing and usage of their skills obtained abroad. read more...

 
More Economic and Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Youth and Women from Rural Areas

Over 350 young people and women from all over the Republic of Moldova will have an opportunity to participate in the economic empowerment trainings, as well as to receive small business development grants that will enable them to start entrepreneurial activities to build their future, as well as to invest into the prosperous development of the country. As many as twenty trainings for youth and women from rural areas, with an added value of including participants from socially vulnerable families, are to take place throughout the year 2011. read more...

 
Investing migrants' remittances into the economy of Moldova

On November 22, 2010 the pilot Program on Attracting Remittances into the Economy PARE 1+1 was launched. PARE 1+1 was adopted by the Governmental Decision on October, 2010. The program aims to stimulate the transfer of remittance through official channels, transfer of knowledge and know-how, facilitate the access of migrants to funds, and creation of new working places in Moldova. read more...

 
Temporary return of representatives from Moldovan Scientific Diaspora

The International Organization for Migration, Mission in the Republic of Moldova (IOM), in partnership with the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) announces a competition to support 30 researchers on a competitive basis– members of Moldovan Scientific Diaspora (MSD) willing to return to Moldova for a short-term visit of 7 – 11 days in order to perform research activities and share their experience at one of R&D institutions or universities of Moldova.

This competition is open to researchers originating from Moldova who are currently working abroad at R&D institutions or universities in any field of basic and applied sciences and have work experience abroad for a period of minimum 3 years. read more...
