IOM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BRD LAUNCHED A NEW PROGRAMME FOR DIASPORA

International Organization for Migration, Mission to Moldova (IOM) launched today in partnership with the Bureau for Relations with Diaspora (BRD) a new programme aimed at diaspora named DIASPORA ENGAGEMENT HUB. The programme is implemented within the framework of the “Consolidating Moldova’s Migration and Development Institutional Framework” project, financed by the Swiss Agency for International Development and Cooperation (SDC).

In 2016-2017, the Diaspora Engagement Hub programme will support members of diaspora including association and initiative groups by offering a number of thematic grant schemes:

 

The initial stage of the Diaspora Engagement HUB programme consists of three sub-programmes, which will support the following:

 

PROFESSIONAL RETURN OF MIGRANTS

18 grants of 2.000 CHF each will be offered to professionals from diaspora in order to encourage  transfer of human capital and of professional experience for academic, social and economic development of the Republic of Moldova through their short-term professional return (between 2 and 8 weeks).

 

INOVATION PROJECTS OF DIASPORA

16 grants of 4.000 CHF each will be offered to members of diaspora for implementation of innovative activities or projects based on the transfer of knowledge, experience and best international practices in the Republic of Moldova in different fields.

 

THEMATIC REGIONAL PARTNERSHIPS

5 grants of 5.000 CHF each will be offered to diaspora associations for implementation of different community-based, regional socio-economic oriented activities or activities in the field of education and health care, which will be implemented by initiative groups formed of at least two diaspora associations from two different countries and in partnership with a Moldovan NGO.

 

The submission of application is available online and will be open from February 12 to March 31, 2017. The projects proposals will be reviewed every two months of the entire year by a common IOM/BRD selection committee.

The DIASPORA ENGAGEMENT HUB programme will not stop at these 39 grants. The number of available grants will increase based on the effective collaboration with the partners of the programme and active participation of diaspora.
