Moldovan policy makers learn EU best practices in the field of management of labour migration

Chisinau, 19 December 2011- Training seminars “Best EU practices in the area of Management of Labour Migration”, held during December 14-16, 2011, organized jointly by the ILO and IOM within the project “Effective Governance of Labour Migration and its Skills Dimensions”, implemented in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Moldova and funded by the European Union, have been targeted towards policy makers, representatives of National Authorities, such as the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, the Ministry of Education, The Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Foreign Affaires and European Integration, as well as other relevant stakeholders (trade unions, employers’ associations, private employment agencies and Academia) have had the opportunity to strengthen their organizational and institutional capacities to regulate and manage legal labour migration (including temporary and circular migration) for the benefit of Moldovan migrant workers and returning migrants. read more...

Thus, during a very comprehensive and complex workshop, delivered by qualified IOM international experts, Mr. Vassiliy Yuzhanin şi Mr. Pawel Szalus, the participants have gained knowledge in the area of International Migration Law, Civil and migrant’s rights, concept and policies in the area of management of labour migration, as well as circular and temporary migration schemes, labour contracts and management of recruiting labour migrants. In addition, the delivered presentations will enable participants to orient and train labour migrants before their departure, as well as how to integrate the labour migration into the national development programmes. Among many important aspects, the participants have made a point of the role and opportunities for Diaspora, the significant role of remittances for Moldova’s economic development and growth, challenges provoked by brain waste and loss of human capital, as well as will be discussing different approaches on how to address these difficulties.
