Migrants' Guide in the Republic of Moldova
Versiunea romana a paginii este in proces de actualizare.

Immigration to a new country always creates difficulties and raises concerns. What is this country like, what climate does it have, and how do people live here? What is the history and the customs of this country, and how can a job be found? What rights are provided by the state and how easy it is to get integrated in the society? These are just several questions to which any migrant gives some thought. Nevertheless, immigration might become a less difficult process when it is based on accurate information. That is why, was conceptualized and elaborated this brochure suggestively entitled “Migrants’ Guide in the Republic of Moldova” which provides answers to some of the main questions by foreigners wishing to immigrate to the Republic of Moldova, as well as other useful information and links. The brochure “Migrants’ Guide in the Republic of Moldova” is also available in digital format in Romanian, English, Russian, French and Arabic languages. The publication was developed by the Bureau of Migration and Asylum under the Ministry of Internal Affairs in cooperation with the IOM Mission in the Republic of Moldova, within the framework of the Support to Implementation of EC Readmission Agreements with the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation and Ukraine: Facilitation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Project (SIREADA), funded by the European Union, co-funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation, and implemented by the International Organization for Migration in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Moldova.

“Mapping Moldovan Diaspora”: How Are Moldovans Doing Abroad?
Versiunea romana a paginii este in proces de actualizare.

Two recently launched studies in Chisinau have managed to determine the socio-economic profile of Moldovan citizens temporarily or permanently staying in the Russian Federation and major destination EU countries, persons originating from the Republic of Moldova and their descendants from these countries.

The studies have shown that Moldovan migrants who left for the Russian Federation are primarily men, married, with a relatively low education level, originating from rural areas and who are interested in temporary departures; when it comes to women, they have better education, rarely married and most of them permanently reside in Russia. More than two thirds of migrants, predominantly men, work in construction. Most migrants had to change their economic activity: only a quarter of migrants hold the same job in Russia as they did in Moldova.

As opposed to the Moldovan migrants in Russia, the profile of Moldovan migrants who left for surveyed EU countries is different - migrant stocks in Italy and Portugal are balanced in terms of age, whereas in France and the United Kingdom predominate 18-40 year-old migrants, most of whom are students. From the gender perspective - in France and Portugal migrants communities are balanced, whereas female migrants predominate in Italy and male migrants in the United Kingdom. The migrants in the EU countries have a high level of education, either higher education or even scientific degrees. Of all Moldovans, who were previously employed before emigration, only 21.7 per cent work in the same professional area as in Moldova. Read more...

Versiunea romana a paginii este in proces de actualizare.

The „Nobody Is Alone on the Earth” awareness-raising campaign for Moldovan migrants in Italy was extended and is to be run in three other Italian cities – Verona, Parma, and Milano.

This initiative was launched in May 2012: the campaign was organized in 9 Italian cities with the largest number of Moldovan migrants and successfully wrapped up in October 2012 in Rome. Nevertheless, following the requests of Moldovan Diaspora Associations, as well as positive reactions of expatriate citizens, the campaign will be implemented in three more cities, where the number of our compatriots is likewise significant.

Thus, throughout April-June 2013, Moldovan Diaspora Associations with the support of International Organization for Migration (IOM), Mission to the Republic of Moldova will organize meetings with Moldovans settled in Verona, Parma, and Milano. Read more...
