The IV Moldovan Diaspora Congress, organized by the Bureau of Interethnic Relations in partnership with the IOM, was held in Chisinau, Moldova from 12-14 October 2010. Differing from past Congresses, which focused mainly on discussions with the government, the second day was dedicated to a workshop organized with the direct involvement of Congress delegates.

The workshop featured a special session devoted to project proposal development, media and public relations, and fundraising information in order to build Diaspora capacities to ensure the sustainability of their activities. To further the workshop discussions, delegates were provided with three guides – How to write a project proposal, Media and Communications, How to Fundraise. read more...

The workshop also fostered intra-diaspora communication on programs for migrants supported by the government and international organizations and offered the opportunity for delegates to share their experiences and knowledge with their colleagues from other countries.

Held in the framework of the project, "Supporting the Implementation of the Migration and Development Component of the EU-Moldova Mobility Partnership," implemented by the IOM in partnership with the Moldovan government, the two-day event brought together 110 Moldovan citizens (representing 64 Diaspora Associations), residing in 31 countries, with active participation from all ministers, the President and the Prime Minister. The high number of participants marks an important milestone, as Moldovan diaspora continue to emerge and establish themselves over their young history.
