TRAINING OF TRAINERS (ToT) ON MIGRANTS LEGAL TREATMENT FOR JUDGES AND PROSECUTORS

On 28 of March 2011, over 25 judges and prosecutors from both central and regional levels received Training of Trainers (ToT) focusing on material and procedural aspects of foreigner’s legal treatment on contravention cases.
The Training of Trainers (ToT) set the objective to build the capacities of the Moldovan prosecutors and judges’ in the field of protection of foreigners’ rights, providing them with the information on standards and rules of migrants’ protection in contravention cases, as well as giving them a platform for analyzing material and procedural aspects of the detention and expulsion procedures for irregular migrants based on the Contravention Code. read more...

On the other hand, the participants have been equipped with a Training the Trainers (ToT) methodology that will enable them to further organize and carry out the “cascade” trainings in their regions. These trainings will be destined for judges and prosecutors based on the National Institute of Justice plan of trainings and are supposed to start in autumn 2011. The ToT was facilitated by the representatives of IOM International Migration Law Division, the Superior Council of Magistracy, the Supreme Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal.
The Training of Trainers was organized in close partnership with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) within the EU funded project “Technical Cooperation and Capacity Building for the Governments of Ukraine and Moldova for the Implementation of Readmission Agreements with the European Union (GUMIRA)”.
