Diaspora Relations Bureau

In 2012, the government of Moldova created the Bureau for Diaspora Relations (BRD). It is placed under the direct subordination of the Prime Minister and deals with developing and coordinating public policies for and with diaspora participation. The strategic objectives of the BRD may be categorized into two directions: (1) BRD ensures the coordination of policies and programmes for the diaspora at the government and ministry levels; (2) it maintains a continuous dialogue with the Moldovan diaspora. Since BRD’s establishment, IOM and BRD have been committed to implement several different projects and programmes together in order to improve the government’s agencies with a diaspora-engaging mandate, including the specific coordination role of BRD.
